Bonfire Night
Bonfire night is widely celebrated in our local community with the Codnor fireworks display being held every year. Lot's of us attend this and it gave us lots of opportunities to discuss the fireworks that we saw. We used the paint programme on the Interactive White Board to make our own firework pictures. Look at all the different colours that we have used!
Diwali
We showed respect for different cultures when we learnt all about the Hindu festival of lights, which is Diwali. We explored how Hindu's celebrate their festival by dressing up in special Diwali clothes, painting Mendi patterns onto hand templates and drawing Rangoli patterns onto the floor. We used salt dough to roll out and make Diva's (special candle holders). We used careful fingers to add patterns to them. We then painted them to make them bright and colourful. We also found out that Hindu's watch firework shows to celebrate and we already knew lots about fireworks from when we learnt about bonfire night!
Children in need
We have very good links with our local community toddler group and we got together to raise money for Children in Need. We welcomed our visitors by sharing our resources and they were very kind in bringing yummy Pudsey biscuits to eat!
