Nursery (Teddy Bears)

Hello and welcome to Teddy Bears Class. The class teacher is Mrs Hobson and the Teaching Assistant is Mrs Stocks.

We have lots of fun learning and exploring through play both inside and outside of the classroom! Please look through our class page below to find out more information about us and what we get up to in Nursery!

Our PE days are a Monday and a Thursday and your child can come to School in their PE kits on those days.

Our curriculum topic this half term is 'Donaldson's Delights' and our question that we will be exploring is:

What is our favourite story?

What can we grow?

What's happening this half term?

Literacy

To help us answer the question 'What can we grow?', we will be reading 'Jack and the beanstalk.' Through this book, we will plant our own beans, learn how to look after them and watch them grow! We will be thinking about story sequencing and seeing if we can put the events of the story in the correct order.

We will also be reading lots of Julia Donaldson stories this half term! Keep visiting the website each week to see which ones we have read!

Maths

This half term we are going to be looking at shape and measures.

We will be learning the language of tall and short by measuring beanstalks. We will be exploring 3D shapes to make houses for the book 'A Squash and a squeeze.' We will explore the language of long and short when reading the book 'Superworm!' We will be drawing maps and thinking of positional language through the story 'What the ladybird heard.'

Understanding The World

We are going to be looking after plants this half term. We will think about what a plant needs to grow and then plant some bean seeds. Hopefully, with the correct care, we will be able to watch beanstalks grow!

We will be thinking about 'What is special about our natural World' in our RE sessions. We will go out and discover how amazing our natural world is and read the Bible to learn about the Creation Story.
