Nursery (Teddy Bears)

Hello and welcome to Teddy Bears Class. The class teacher is Mrs Hobson and the Teaching Assistant is Mrs Stocks.

We have lots of fun learning and exploring through play both inside and outside of the classroom! Please look through our class page below to find out more information about us and what we get up to in Nursery!

Our PE days are a Monday and a Thursday and your child can come to School in their PE kits on those days.

Our curriculum topic this half term is 'Come Rain or Shine,' and our question that we will be exploring is:

How many colours are in a rainbow?

What's happening this half term?

We are going to be settling into the routines of the Nursery classroom; exploring all the learning through play and making friends along the way!

Literacy

We love books and reading in Nursery and we will be using books to help us answer our question.

We will read 'Brown Bear Brown Bear' to help us recognise colours. 'The Colour Monster' will help us explore our feelings and how colours can represent different feelings. 'Pete the Cat' will help us explore colour mixing and learn a funky song too! Our traditional tale this half term will be 'The enormous Turnip' and will help us to begin to learn about Harvest.

Maths

We are enjoying singing lots of Number rhymes this half term. We are exploring the concept of sorting in different ways. We have been looking at our own similarities and differences, reading stories about how we are the same and different and how we can sort our features, e.g. brown hair and blonde hair, blue eyes and brown eyes etc.

We will read the story 'Simon Sock' and look at the patterns on the socks to be able to sort them into pairs.

We will also begin to think about how to make a simple repeating pattern and talking about the pattern.

Understanding The World

We will be explolring the natural world around us to explore the season of Autumn. We will go on an Autumn walk and talk about what we can see, feel, smell and touch.

We will collect natural materials to help us make repeating patterns in Maths and make some art work.

We are beginning to learn simple Bible stories. We will read Noah's Ark and link this to our Codnor Stars and learning behaviours.
