Reception (Panda Bears)

Welcome to our Panda Bears class page!

The Teacher in Reception is Miss Marshall and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Shaw. We are very excited to Welcome you to our class page and you will find lots of information about our curriculum and learning here. This half term, we have been focusing on getting to know each other and exploring our environment. The children are settling fantastically and understand the routines of Reception. Our PE day is Monday so please ensure that your child brings a PE kit on that day.

Our curriculum question is:

How many colours in a rainbow?

What's happening this half term?

Maths

This half term we will be looking at shapes and patterns. We will be sorting objects in different ways including by shape, size and colour, and will be investigating 2d and 3d shapes. We will also be investigating and exploring repeating patterns.

Literacy

We will be reading the story 'The Colour monster' and talking about our feelings and emotions. We will be creating our own feelings jars and labelling our very own colour monster. We will also be reading the story 'Pete the cat' and exploring colour and colour mixing. We will be retelling and acting our familiar stories, writing initial sounds we hear and practicing writing our name.

Understanding the World

We will be focusing on exploring the world around us during our learning about Autumn, seasons and weather. We will talk about how the changing seasons affect us and describe what we see, hear and feel while outside.
