We are delighted to share the outcome of our Church Inspection.
An Inspector visited us on Thursday 15th June 2017 to judge our effectiveness as a Church school. During this visit, the Inspector had a guided tour by two of our Y6 children, observed lessons, spoke with members of staff, governors and St James' Church and most importantly, spoke to the children about their feelings of our school. During multi-faith week, she observed the children learning about Hinduism and was greatly impressed by the children's deep knowledge of world religions.
We are pleased to announce that we have been judged to be an outstanding Church school, which is the highest of the four gradings. Throughout her visit, the Inspector repeatedly commented on what a wonderful Christian ethos we promote, what an outstanding curriculum we deliver, how superbly our pupils behave and how supportive our community are. We extend our thanks to you for your continued support.
Mr Philip Moss (Chair of Governors) and Mr Steve Bower (Headteacher)
What wonderful news, to hear that our school has been rated as Outstanding in our recent Church Inspection!
This inspection, in the middle of Faith Week when I had spent a fantastic week in school with the children learning about other faiths (we learnt so much!), confirmed all the positives that we knew, the mutual respect between pupils and staff, the tolerance of differences and our love for one another.
Well done everyone. Our school is a "Church School" in action.
Rev Christopher Holden
I have read the report of your recent SIAMS inspection and I am writing to congratulate you on such an encouraging outcome. I know how hard you have worked to demonstrate your identity as a church school, and to develop as a truly Christian community of learning and loving.
Thank you for taking your Christian character seriously and for all the creative and compassionate ways you express that.
I wish you well as you continue your work. I pray that all who are part of your community will know they are loved and are able to flourish as God intended.
Bishop Alastair (Bishop of Derby)
