National School Sports Week

National School Sports Week 2015 was during the week 22nd-26th June and our focus was on Football to try and promote the FIFA Women's Football World Cup and to coincide with the 'This Girl Can' campaign which has recently been publicised (www.thisgirlcan.co.uk). We ran Football lessons during P. E. with girls and boys football games; Football Competitions for boys and girls at lunch-times; and Football Clubs for both boys and girls during the week. Throughout the week all children from Year One to Year Six had the opportunity to experience the game and we know we have already had one or two more girls join our local Football Club, Codnor Girls.

On Friday 26th June we visited the Codnor Sports Club with 67 KS1 children for a Sports Festival and picnic. The children had the opportunity to experience competitive games of Bowls on the Bowls Green with some of the Bowls Club Members; Dodgeball; Cricket; Handball; Tag; and Kick Cricket. It was a fantastic day and the weather held fine for us. Thank you to the Codnor Sports Club Committee for allowing us the opportunity to use the facilities and we hope that this is only the beginning of a Community Partnership.
