  • Our New Teacher

    Sun 19 Apr 2020

Hello everyone. Mr Blake typing here.

Some of you will know by now that Miss Harriet McKirdy will be taking over from Mr Rob Sellers, and we want to welcome her warmly to our school. In the current climate, it's probably the most unusual way to start a new teaching job, ever. Miss McKirdy is an experienced teacher who really shone throughout the interview process and I know that she will be a valued member of our school community.

As you can imagine, we had planned in some time for Miss McKirdy to meet her class and to meet the children's parents; and also some time to thank Mr Sellers properly and publicly. Because of the closures, sadly these things couldn't happen.

All of us here at Codnor Primary want to thank Mr Rob Sellers for all the great work he has done for our school – as a teacher, and a respected colleague. We also want to thank him for lending his expertise as we began to develop our revised curriculum. Mr Sellers will be missed, and we very much hope that he will work with our school and community again in the future.

As always, please feel free to get in touch using our contact details if you have any questions.

I hope you're all ok, and I am so looking forward to seeing you all again when we're at the other end of this tunnel.

The best of wishes to you and yours,

    Mr Blake

  • Next Learning Packs

    Sun 19 Apr 2020

We've made arrangements for you to pick up your child's next home-learning pack this coming Friday (24th April). For social distancing purposes, and to minimise contact with others, we have allocated the following rough times for you to pick these up. Packs for all classes will be available all day, so if you have two children in different classes, you can pick both of the packs up on the same trip. Packs will be clipped together, so you can pop the new resources in the wallets you had last time.

Following government guidelines, you are allowed to come out of your house for exercise, so this trip would count as that.

If by mutual agreement, you are able to pick anyone else’s up (e.g. if they are self-isolating or at work), then that would be helpful.

    • 8.30AM – 9.30AM Nursery and Reception
    • 9.30AM – 10.30AM Mrs Rogers and Miss Wilson
    • 10.30AM – 11.30AM Miss Barton and Miss McKirdy (see news article)
    • 11.30AM – 12.30PM Mr Buckle and Mrs Goodburn
    • 12.30PM – 1.30PM Mrs Hibbitt

We are hoping to have the packs on tables on the school field, but if the weather doesn’t allow this, then the packs will be in the upper school hall.

If you really cannot make the time slot, then that’s not a problem – come up in the afternoon, but to keep everyone as safe as possible, please try to keep to the times if you can.

Thanks. We hope you're all well and coping with this strangest of situations.

  • Voucher Delivery

    Thu 16 Apr 2020
Everyone who ordered supermarket vouchers should receive a code for them on Monday, although we are told that the system which sends them is struggling a bit due to high demand. Check your spam (junk mail) folder if the code does not turn up by Monday evening.
  • Thank You...

    Wed 15 Apr 2020
To whoever you are, thank you for the lovely pictures on the school gates. That's lovely. We miss you.
  • Supermarket Vouchers

    Tue 07 Apr 2020

The DfE are providing supermarket vouchers for children who are registered to have Free School Meals. Please note this does not mean the universal free school meals that children in Reception to Y2 receive – only those who are registered for Free School Meals are entitled to a voucher.

There will be one £15 voucher available per week for each child who is registered for Free School Meals, but parents/carers have to claim these first. If you have more than one child, the value of the vouchers will be added together (e.g. a parent with children in Y2 and Y5 will receive a £30 voucher).

To claim the voucher, you’ll need an email address. If you haven't got one, you can get a free address at gmail.com (choose 'Create an Account').

Please then email your children's names and classes to meals@codnor.derbyshire.sch.uk, and we will add you to the list.

Codes for the vouchers will be sent to your email address. You can then use these codes to claim the vouchers by following the instructions in the email.

You must let us know if you want the vouchers by 3.30PM on Sunday 12th April, as we will put the orders in then.

    Thank you.

  • Easter Opening

    Wed 01 Apr 2020

School is going to open for 8 days over the Easter holidays for eligible children (e.g. those whose parents are key workers and are not able to arrange care for them at home). We will not be open on Good Friday or Easter Monday. Arrangements will remain the same as they are now, including timings and school lunches.

Please also note that the Inset day at the beginning of the Summer Term (Monday 20th April) is cancelled and eligible children will be able to attend as above.

Thanks, and we hope you're all OK.
