Our Curriculum

"A purposeful journey for the whole child, which equips our pupils with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in all aspects of life, both inside and outside of the classroom."

Our curriculum intent is shaped by our vision, “Let your light shine”, which underpins our belief that every child has individual strengths and potential. As a Church of England primary school, we deliver a curriculum grounded in Christian values, promoting compassion, respect, community and aspiration. Designed in response to the specific needs of our pupils, our curriculum supports high academic standards while nurturing personal development, enabling all children to shine in their own unique way.

Our curriculum is specifically tailored to our children's needs.

Curriculum Design

Our curriculum is personally designed to meet the needs of our children and our community. While we teach the full national curriculum, we go beyond it with a strong focus on enrichment and helping pupils understand their place in the world. Carefully planned experiences such as trips, visitors, and themed learning deepen knowledge, broaden horizons, and build cultural capital. At the heart of everything we do is a shared commitment to behaviour for learning and metacognition. These run as a golden thread through every subject, helping pupils understand how they learn, manage themselves, and approach challenges positively - because without learners who are ready and able to learn, meaningful learning cannot take place.

Early Years Foundation Stage

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework is set by the Department for Education and provides the statutory foundation for children’s learning from birth to the end of Reception. It is based on research into how young children develop and learn best, recognising the importance of play, exploration, and positive relationships. The EYFS sets out clear expectations for learning, development, and wellbeing, ensuring that all children build the essential knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to make a strong start as they move into Key Stage 1.
