We have a super PTA, who are known as 'Friends of Codnor School' - made up from current parents, ex-parents and school staff. They are extremely supportive of our school and have many meetings to discuss new fundraising ideas. They pay for lots of equipment in school, they fund the annual pantomime (oh yes they do!) and also pay for the Christmas presents each year for all of our children. They also hold regular coffee mornings in school. Please do come along for a cup of tea and a slice of homemade cake!
One of their biggest jobs is to organise our Christmas and Summer Fairs. These are always great fun and a huge success. They get the community involved with our school and raise funds which directly benefit the children.
Information about the next Friends of Codnor meeting will appear on our Calendar. All are welcome to attend!
Christmas Fair (2018) - £1340 was the grand total at our Christmas Fair this year! Our school choir and lower school singers performed beautifully on stage, Santa paid a visit, and the community packed out the hall. Thanks to everyone who ran stalls and games, and to everyone else who helped make this event a success.
May Fair (2018) - we just managed to avoid the rain, and visitors to our May Fair had a great time as the sun shone! Our brilliant dancers from Key Stage 1 performed, and we had a bouncy castle, a giant inflatable slide, fairground rides, an ice cream van (yum!), a BBQ (double-yum!), a penalty shootout with golden boot prize, Y5's arcade games, a tombola, and many different stalls and games.
This year, we raised £1254! A brilliant total - many thanks to everyone involved.
Christmas Fair (2017) saw our local community come together to raise just over £900 for our school. The choir performed on stage, the lower singers sang, and Santa was extremely busy in his grotto (which was difficult, as he was also on 'present-making duty' at the time. Well done, Santa! The stalls and games all went down a storm, and we had many positive comments about the event.
Thanks very much to everyone who helped to make this event a great success.
May Fair (2017) was held on Saturday 20th May. Although the weather gave us a few 'challenges', the event was well attended by our fantastic local community, and we raised well over £700!
Thanks to all who helped to organise and run the event, and of course to everyone who came along and spent a bit of money! Every penny we raise directly benefits our children.
Christmas Fair! (December 2016) - Thanks to our local community, the Friends of Codnor School, and all of the kind people who helped to set up and run this event - and clear up afterwards! Santa found time in his busy schedule to pay us a visit, and visitors enjoyed many different stalls and games. Our lower school singers and School Choir performed on the stage. Click the link below to see some great pictures! We raised almost £800!
Bingo Night! (June 2016) - House! We raised quite a bit of cash on our Bingo Night - £350!
May Fair 2016 - £1107 raised! Many thanks to all who helped out on the day, donated prizes, and attended. Click the link below to see some pictures.
Christmas Fair 2015 - £1168.50 raised! Thank you to everyone who helped organise this event and attended on the day. These additional funds are vital for our school and have paid for the Christmas presents for all children, the school pantomime and our fabulous real Christmas tree in the upper school hall. They have also funded a super new healthy snack trolley!
May Fair 2015 - £1212.00 was raised at this successful event! The sun shone and the children enjoyed Maypole dancing, a disco and a bouncy castle to name but a few events. Sincere thanks to everyone who came to support our school and also a huge thank you to everyone who helped on the day. Your hard work is very much appreciated.
If you haven't been to one of our events, you really should! The next one will be advertised on our website and in school newsletters. In the meantime, here's a taster!
'Friends of Codnor School' really bring our community together with their fantastic events. They help to enrich
our children's education and enjoyment of their schooling through the fairs which they organise and run, and with
the other fundraising they do for our school.
