Entering school during icy conditions

Temperatures are predicted to plummet tonight, and our prority is to keep everyone safe. It's going to be icy in the morning, and we don't want any accidents. So here's the plan for children entering school tomorrow morning.

A bigger version of this map is at the bottom of the page.

Our main concern is ice on Whitegates, so if you can avoid walking up Whitegates, we are strongly recommending that you choose a different route. To that end, we have cleared a path from Bakers Lane gate to the Upper School door and hall doors. The path will be gritted in the early hours of the morning.

  • Breakfast Club: enter through the Upper School door, and walk through school and Nursery to Breakfast Club in the Lower School hall.
  • Nursery: at 8:30, children meet Mrs Hobson at the Upper School door, and walk through school down to Nursery with another member of staff.
  • Reception, Year 1 and Year 2: at 8:45, children enter the Upper School hall and wait with their teachers.
  • Upper School (Years 3 to 6): from 8:30, children enter through the Upper School door and go straight into their own classroom.

The end of the school day will be as usual, using the normal exits.

Some parents live on Whitegates, so it is up to them which route they take. Families who do decide to use Whitegates should enter through the Main Entrance and follow the arrangements as above.

Thank you, and stay safe! yes
