Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school.
We are moving towards 'paperless' slips for parents to authorise their children taking part in clubs such as sports and after-school activities. These will come through on Parent Hub, as will any communications regarding the club (e.g. cancellations). Please make sure you enable notifications on your phone for Parent Hub so that you get a ping.
If you haven't yet installed Parent Hub, please do. It's easy, completely free, and is the primary way for school to keep parents up to date. More information is at this link.
We have been told about instances of scarlet fever in our community. Scarlet fever is a contagious infection that mostly affects young children. It's easily treated with antibiotics. If you suspect that you or your child has scarlet fever, contact your GP. NHS advice is to stay away from nursery, school or work for 24 hours after you take the first dose of antibiotics.
See this link on the NHS website for pictures and more information.
In the event of extreme weather causing school to close, there will be a notice on the front page of our website and a message posted via Parent Hub. This will usually be first thing in the morning, as we survey the site before making a decision. You can assume we are open unless you hear otherwise via our website or Parent Hub.
We always try to stay open if we can because we know how disruptive school closures can be for families - but the safety of everyone who uses the school grounds has to be our first priority.
Thank you for your understanding.
This year, we are again taking part in NSPCC's Speak Out Stay Safe. This short programme is designed to ensure children know how to protect themselves from any form of abuse, and how to speak up to keep themselves safe. There will be an assembly in school, and NSPCC are delivering workshops for Y2, Y5 and Y6 on 13/2/24.
Please see this letter from the NSPCC for more information.
Dear all. Please see the leaflet below for details about the Open Evening we will be holding in school on Monday 20th November from 15:30 to 17:00.
Non-Uniform
Friday 17th November is non-uniform day. There's no particular theme, and a suggested donation of 50p, which children can give to their class teachers.
Knitted Toys Raffle
Our wonderful friend Dorothy has again worked all year to produce over 100 beautiful knitted toys for us to raffle. From Nursery to Year 6, each class will run their own raffle on Friday afternoon. Tickets are £1 per strip, and children can buy these from their class teachers.
Wristbands and Pudsey Pin Badges
Due to their size, these are suitable for Upper School children (Year 3 to Year 6). They are priced at £1, and will be on sale at breaktimes.
Friends of Codnor have kindly organised one of their Fabulous Fashion Shows for Thursday 5th October at 7PM 👗 Complimentary tea/coffee, and bring your own drinks 🙂 These are always lovely evenings - and the chance to bag a bargain! Full info in the poster below. Tickets available in school, for the chance to top up your winter wardrobe. Hope to see you there!
We want to thank Amber Valley Rotary for very kindly funding upgrades to our Upper School playground. Some super pics at this link.
ONE WEEK TO GO before the new school year starts! We're looking forward to seeing you all, and we hope you've had a lovely summer. Our Useful Information page for parents is up to date and viewable at this link (opens in new window).
ParentPay is a popular request from our community. It enables parents to pay for things like school dinners and school trips using an app on their phone, rather than sending in cash. Children received sign-up details in a letter at the end of the last school year.
Parent Hub is a free app which lets parents pick up school's messages on their phone. Messages can be sent to parents of children in particular classes, or those who are attending an after-school club. It's a useful way to stay in touch. Search for Parent Hub in your app store, and then use the information in this leaflet to join your app to our school.
We hope these services will help us to further develop communication between school and home. If you are struggling to sign up, or haven't got the details, please contact the office and we will be able to help.
We will be offering wraparound care from Monday 18th September. There's more info at this link.
