Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school.
Following government guidelines, all members of staff will have the opportunity to take Lateral Flow Tests for coronavirus from Monday 25th January. They will do this twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, and the results are available quickly. We have been asked to do this to limit the spread of coronavirus in the community, as it will pick up any asymptomatic cases (currently estimated to be 1 in 3 people who are infected but do not have any symptoms).
We are telling you about this because if a test returns positive, then bubbles will have to be closed for 10 days or until the staff member gets a negative test from a laboratory (PCR test). All members of the bubble will need to isolate. This could happen at very short notice - first thing in the morning - so it is important that you have some sort of contingency plan in place for childcare in case this happens. Closed bubbles will switch completely to remote learning, so make sure you have your child’s login details ready. These were sent to you in the Autumn Term. If you cannot find these, you can contact your child’s class teacher. Teachers' email addresses are here. It's a good idea to try logging in to Google Classroom now (if you haven't already) so your child is prepared for accessing remote learning.
If certain staff members (or more than one) test positive, this could enforce a whole-school closure, as directed by Public Health England. Depending on the situation, we may also have to close for a number of days to have the site professionally deep cleaned. In these cases, we would still switch to remote learning.
If the school office has to close, you can still email in using the office@codnor.derbyshire.sch.uk address, or the address of your child’s teacher. Depending on the time of day, other staff members may be available to answer a phone outside the office, but this will take longer to answer, so please let it ring.
If a bubble has to close, we will publish the information on the front page of the website. You can check that now – look for the text 'BUBBLE STATUS'. We will then send texts to those parents affected. If you have recently changed your phone number, please contact us to keep us up to date.
Thank you all for your support and understanding during these trying times.
Message from Derbyshire County Council
The second set of COVID winter shopping vouchers are due to be sent in mid-February. The money to pay for these vouchers has come from the government through its COVID-19 winter grant scheme which is over and above the other support schemes already provided by Derbyshire County Council.
If you received vouchers in December and your circumstances haven’t changed then you should be eligible for vouchers in February. The amount each voucher is worth will depend on the number of children in the region who qualify at that time. These will be sent automatically using text or email by Derbyshire County Council using the contact details held by school.
Please ensure the contact details we hold for you are up to date and correct. You must do this before 29 January 21.
For full details of the scheme or to see what help and support is available, please visit www.derbyshire.gov.uk/winter
If your financial circumstances have changed since December you may be eligible to apply for free school meals at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals or free childcare for 2-year-olds at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/freechildcaretwo.
If you are successful in your application, you will be added to the February voucher distribution.
The government are allowing schools with attached nurseries to open their nurseries. We understand that some parents will not be comfortable sending their children in the current climate, and we of course respect your decision.
We will be opening our nursery fully from Monday 18th January. This does not affect the rest of the school. If you would like your child to return to nursery, please email your child’s name to nursery@codnor.derbyshire.sch.uk before Friday 15th January.
Mrs Hobson will continue the remote learning for those who are not attending. Thanks, and have a lovely weekend.
Just a quick reminder of class e mail addresses if you are having any problems accessing the remote learning for your child or if you need a reminder of your log in details.

Good morning everyone. If you are a key worker and would like a place for your child please can you let us know as soon as possible. There only has to be one parent that is a key worker. If you have already let us know thank you very much and we will be in touch with the starting arrangements. We will be in touch with parents of vulnerable children shortly. Nursery is currently only open to parents of key workers or those with a social worker. We will review this as new information comes into Derbyshire County Council.
