We're sorry to have to let you know that a member of the Reception bubble (the class taught by Miss Akhtar and Mrs Shaw) has unfortunately had a positive coronavirus test result.
The time of the test means that the person could potentially have been infectious while in school, so the Reception bubble has to switch to remote learning for the week commencing Monday 12th July. Children and staff in that bubble need to isolate as a precaution.
Children can return to school on Monday 19th July if they are not showing any symptoms. See the letter from Dean Wallace, Director of Public Health for Derbyshire, on our Opening Information page for updated information regarding symptoms.
Other members of your child's household, (i.e. parents, siblings, etc.) do not need to isolate unless your child or anyone in the household develops symptoms themselves.
Other bubbles in school are unaffected, including Reception children in Mrs Rogers' class, and they can all attend school as normal.
In Miss Akhtar's Reception bubble, we will be switching teaching back to Google Classroom, as per the previous lockdown. If you are struggling to access the technology, you can email your child's class teacher using their email address, and you can also contact the school office.
We will keep you informed if there are any changes.
Best wishes to our whole community. Coronavirus cases are on the rise. Following the government's restrictions and recommendations will help to reduce the probability of this situation happening again. Please stay safe.
Here's our community at work on something amazing! Ruth, one of our parents, contacted Mr Buckle with lyrics she'd written and a tune suggestion, and Mr Buckle did his usual magic! The result, combined with our children on RED, WHITE and BLUE day, turned into something quite special! What a talented community we have! So in a 'Good Luck' tribute to the England team, and as a celebration, Codnor Primary School presents to you – 'Come On England!'
Please see this link for a letter to parents and carers from Dean Wallace, Director of Public Health for Derbyshire.
Dear Parents/Carers
For the school year starting September 2021 we will be continuing with the e-consent for the Flu Programme. This year we will be offering the Nasal Flu vaccination to children in Reception, Year 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. When completing the e-consent please state the year group your child will be in at the beginning of the school year September 2021 NOT their current year group.
Please visit https://www.derbyshireandcityimms.co.uk/Forms/Flu to complete the consent form. The option to consent or decline the vaccination is at the end of the questionnaire so please complete even if you do not want your child to have the vaccination.
Your unique school code for Codnor Community Primary School (Church of England Controlled) is DD131156
For more information about the vaccination please visit our website: https://www.derbyshirefamilyhealthservice.nhs.uk/our-services/5-19-years/school-age-immunisations

To celebrate England's victory on Wednesday night, we are going to have a RED, WHITE and BLUE day on Friday 9th July! If your child would like to come to school in non-uniform, with something red, white and blue (or any combination) then that would be great! Face painting is fine, too. No pressure, of course!
