Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school.
There have been some conflicting reports in the media about schools changing Autumn Term dates at the last minute. We are not going to do this, but please do see this link for some updated information relating to school opening and coronavirus.
Due to the coronavirus situation, we haven't been able to run the school choir this year.
Derby Cathedral Choir are looking for new members, however. Here's some information they sent through to us:
"As I'm sure you're aware, Choristers benefit greatly from being a member of the Cathedral Choir, one of the only professional ensembles of its kind within the East Midlands, singing a broad range of repertoire to the very highest standards from medieval plainsong to newly commissioned works. All our Choristers receive a world-class musical education, including free one-to-one singing and music theory lessons. Furthermore, all our Choristers are paid a termly scholarship for their work at the Cathedral. Throughout their time in the choir, our Choristers are trained in professional music-making; receive a unique all-round cultural education; acquire a sense of self-confidence and purpose; gain vital leadership and team work skills; develop lifelong friendships; and have plenty of fun in the process! We also encourage all our Choristers to work their way through the Royal School of Church Music’s Voice for Life scheme, with most Choristers leaving with either a Silver or Gold award.
The Cathedral Choir undertakes tours both within the UK and abroad. Previous tours include Paris, Belgium and Rome and a tour to Greece is in the pipeline post COVID. CD recordings and BBC broadcasts are regular features of the Cathedral Choir’s schedule, as are concerts and performances with professional orchestras and soloists, and international artists; including the Sixteen, John Rutter, Alexander L’Estrange, Jethro Tull and Sinfonia Viva. Membership of the Cathedral Choir is free and no prior musical training is necessary."
A heartfelt THANK YOU from all of us here at school. Our community's generosity is astounding. Together, we raised almost £300 for the Royal British Legion and £1,100 for Children in Need (our best yet). The donations you sent in on non-uniform day for our Christmas Raffles were absolutely wonderful, and we've started making up some hampers and prize packs, as you can see below.
We can't do Christmas Fair this year (a shame, because we had something special in the works!) but we will be raising money for Friends of Codnor by raffling the prizes and selling some Christmassy items.
Friends of Codnor are so important to us because they pay for many of the lovely things for our children, including treats at Christmas, activities like trips and visitors into school, and special learning resources which we certainly wouldn't be able to afford without their help. In normal times, they arrange super events which get our community into school, enjoying what the children have done.
You have shown us such brilliant support - and a wonderful community spirit which all of us here value and appreciate very much. Thank you again.
This free online course, paid for by Derbyshire County Council, supports parents and carers in keeping their children safe while using the internet and technology - especially during times of lockdown and through school holidays.
Monday 7th December, 09:30 - 11:00.

Our Y6 bubble visited our local church, St James', to hold two minutes silence to show gratitude and respect for those who lost their lives. See the link here to see some pictures, and information about how you can get involved by posting your pictures.
We have had these super doughnuts delivered to school today by one of our lovely parents. Needless to say the staff are absolutely delighted and this has given them a huge boost and a massive sugar rush! We have cut them in half! We can definitely recommend Project D doughnuts.
Thank you so much to the extremely kind parent, these are very much appreciated and it is such a lovely, kind and thoughtful gesture.
