Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school.
A really useful Internet Safety meeting for parents and carers took place on the morning of Friday 15th July, led by PC Neil Hopwell. We've had some good feedback from parents/carers who were able to attend: they found it informative and "enlightening". We plan to run a similar evening session early in the Autumn Term. Watch this space!
For more information, click this link to Derbyshire Constabulary's website - they've written an article about their work with our children and other schools.
In this age of digital technology and social media, we need to keep our children safe online as well as on the streets. Please see our parents' "Online Safety and CEOP" page, and our children's "Safety Online" page - produced mostly by the children themselves (with a little help!
)
Please feel free to contact school, Derbyshire Constabulary, or any of the organisations mentioned in the pages above for advice on how to keep your children safe online.
Some of our children told us that they wanted a quiet area to spend some of their breaktimes, so towards the end of 2015 we began a renovation of the school garden. We're pleased to say that it is now complete!
See some pictures of our children enjoying the garden here.
Mrs Baldwin, one of our long-serving lunchtime supervisors, retired today. The staff and children gave her cards, flowers and a great big cheer to say thanks for all her hard work and support over the years.
Thank you, Mrs Baldwin! Enjoy your retirement. Please remember to drop in and visit. ![]()
On 7th May, 2016, Friends of Codnor School organised and ran our annual May Fair, with the kind help of parents, family members, children, school governors and staff. Click here to see some smashing photos.
Our headteacher, Mr Steve Bower, celebrated his 40 Years Long Service Award from Derbyshire County Council this week at County Offices, Matlock.
Mr Bower came here as Head Designate in 1996 to manage the amalgamation of the Codnor Infant and Codnor Junior Schools, and the opening of Codnor Primary School in 1997. Previously, he was the headteacher at Morley Primary School, deputy head in Denby, and a teacher at Heanor.
Mr Bower said, "I can't believe it’s 40 years! For the most part I have enjoyed every day, and that is mostly due to the lovely children and adults I have been lucky enough to work with."
Congratulations, Steve, from all of us here at school!
18th March 2016 was Sport Relief day! Our children arrived in their sporty gear, took part in laps around the school field and won raffle prizes galore! The final total is £397! ![]()
