  • Science Day

    Tue 08 Nov 2022

Just a reminder that this Thursday 10th November is International Science Day! Your child is invited to come to school dressed as a scientist from the past or present day, or anyone who has a career which links to the sciences (no pressure, of course!) Children can use whatever they already have at home to complete their outfit. In class, children will be running experiments and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activities.

  • Harvest Thanks!

    Thu 20 Oct 2022

Thank you to everyone who came along to our harvest festival, and for the incredible donations of produce which we used to make up the hampers for the raffle. We sold lots of raffle tickets, and in the spirit of community, this year all the money we made will go to our church, St James' on Crosshill. This will help them to continue to support our community and school in the way they always have. Thank you again for your generous donations. ALSO - the results of the scarecrow competition will be announced here on Friday! Thanks for all your votes, which numbered well over 300!

  • Parents' Evenings

    Sun 09 Oct 2022

Here are the arrangements for the Parents' Evenings which will take place in school on Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th October.

    • You can book a 10-minute slot by emailing the teacher with the approximate time you would like to visit, and the teacher will reply with the exact time. You can also speak to the teacher at the end of the school day.
    • Please enter the building using the entrance/exit shown on the map below and at the time of your appointment.
    • Appointments are 10 minutes long, and we have to be precise with the timings as we don't want to inconvenience anyone. The teacher will use a timer. Please don't think that the teacher is being rude when the time is up, it's just that they need to clear the classroom for the next appointment. If you'd like to carry on the conversation, you are welcome to arrange a follow-up phone call – see below.
    • Children will take their books home on Friday 14th October to give you a chance to have a look at them. If they could bring them back on the morning of Monday 17th October that would be appreciated, as they will need to use them in school.
    • Mask-wearing is at parents' and teachers' discretions.

If you cannot make the Monday/Tuesday, or you do not feel that an in-person appointment is right for you at the moment, or you are running late for your appointment, you can email the teacher to arrange a phone call on a mutually convenient day and time:

  • Bank Holiday

    Sun 11 Sep 2022
Dear all. After such sad news this week of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, we're writing to let you know that Monday 19th September is a bank holiday for the State Funeral, so schools will be closed on the 19th as a mark of respect. We pray for the family, and everyone who loved her.
  • Queen Elizabeth II

    Fri 09 Sep 2022

We join together as a community to mourn the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Very recently, we celebrated the Platinum Jubilee in school, which was such a joyful occasion. It is time now to celebrate Her Majesty's 70-year reign, to give thanks for her strength in holding our country, the Commonwealth, and communities together through times of difficulty, and to pray for her family. May they find comfort in Christ, and each other.

Please see this link for a message from The Rt Reverend Libby Lane, Bishop of Derby.

  • Year 6 Play

    Tue 19 Jul 2022

    Dear Parents/ Carers,

    RE: The Year 6 Play

Due to the extreme weather, the school have made the tough but sensible decision to cancel tonight’s performance of the Class of Rock.

To replace this performance, children will now be performing:

Wednesday 20th July at 9:30 am.

    Wednesday 20th July at 6pm.

Parents are welcome at any of these performances regardless of their ticket type. Please be reminded that all children need to be in school for 5:30pm ready for the 6pm performance.

I understand this is inconvenient. Apologies for this, but I am sure you will agree that the wellbeing and safety of our children is our top priority.

If you cannot make any of these performances, I will refund your tickets.

Kind regards and thank you for your understanding,

    Miss McKirdy

  • Hot weather!

    Fri 15 Jul 2022

We are sending a note with your child today with regards to the very hot weather predicted next week. Please do send your child to school in loose clothing, smart shorts etc. Please also send your child with a hat and sun cream and plenty of drinks. If the weather is as hot as predicted the children won't be spending a lot of time outside. We will keep children hydrated throughout the day like we normally do.
