Preparing your child for Nursery
We understand that your child starting Nursery is a big moment for both parent and child. Below are a few hints and tips to help your child to settle into Nursery. We appreciate that every child develops at different times, but it would be a big help in getting your child independent if they could be toilet trained before starting Nursery. There is more information below if you need help with this. Please also speak to the class teacher if there are any questions before your child starts with us.
Teddy Club
When your child comes for a transition session with us, they will be given a teddy bear to take home. This teddy bear is a transitional object which helps the links between home and school. It is a familiar object that they can carry around with them at school as well as taking it home. They can name it and dress it up to make it more individual. It can be helped when teaching your child how to get dressed or help being independent as they will want to show bear what to do.
Stay and play sessions
Once your child has a place in Nursery, they will be invited to a stay and play session in which we invite parents to attend to. You will receive information as to when this is by post.
Parent communication
We use Class Dojo to communicate with parents. This includes messaging, sharing observations and learning and sharing on our class story. All children will be given a login to access Class Dojo once they start in Teddy Bears class.
Please see below for more information on Class Dojo:
School Dinners
All children in Nursery and Reception are entitled to free school meals. You can also choose to have a packed lunch for your child. Please ensure to inform us of any dietary requirements so we can cater for these. Please see below for the current menu:
